Maestro, Initially, Paul’s poor relationships relate very much to his own lack of growth. Do you agree?

Throughout the novel Maestro, written by Peter Goldsworthy, the main character Paul experiences new friends and new relationships. He experiences change in his life, which changes his attitude towards others.

When Paul and his mother attend Paul’s first piano lesson, Paul shows his immaturity and arrogance by being quick to judge his piano teacher Keller. His first impression of Keller is “Unforgettable, the red glow of his face- a boozer’s incandescent glow” (p3).
