	The Stone Boy
	THE STONE BOY The 9-year-old Arnold is the main character in the text. He’s living on a farm together with his brother, 15-year-old Eugene, and their father and mother. It all seems quite ordinary until line 11 “he lifted his .22-caliber rifle” and continues in line 12: “his father had given it to him”. His father, who was supposed to be the clever overhead in the family, had given Arnold a rifle. It’s easy to see that Arnold is proud of his rifle showing it to his older roll model brother. H
