	The Biography of Sara Teasdale Sarah Trevor Teasdale was an American lyrical poet born in St. Louis. Missouri on August 8, 1884. She was delivered into an old, established family. Sarah was the youngest child of John Warren Teasdale, a prominent businessman, and Mary Elizabeth Willard Teasdale, who were already in her middle-ages at her birth (Hamre). Both Mrs. and Mr. Teasdale were staunch Baptists with a Puritan heritage (Hamre). Sarah was known as Sadie within the family until she grew up.
