In Anne Sexton’s retelling of the classic fairy tale “Cinderella” one finds an almost non-chalant interpretation of the story, but if one looks deeper and past the wording and pace of the reworking, one will find the struggle of all women around the world, whose stories are told through the life of Cinderella through symbolism and archetypes. One sees oppression and justice served by the supreme feminine power which overcomes the masculine repression brought on by the evil stepmother.
