Thesis: The Civil War had the greatest impact on non-combatants.
     Bernice Benshoff, my great, great, great grandmother, was born in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. She grew up on a farm that was handed down to her once she started a family. Bernice had four children, who helped her run her farm along with her husband. She lived during the Civil War. She also had the experience of having the Battle of Gettysburg fought on her family’s farm.
