THE HISTORY OF THE ROLLER COASTER
Roller coasters began with the Russian Ice Slides in the mid 1600’s throughout Russia, mainly St. Petersburg’s Russia. They were built of wood with 50 degree drops. The slides were covered with a several inches of ice. Stairs were connected to the back of the slide for people to climb to get onto the Slide. Many of the Ice Slides were hundreds of feet long.
