As I close the last page of Gail Tsukiyama’s “The Samurai’s garden”, I was enchanted by the compassion in her story and the way every aspect of the plot seemed to slowly emerge instead of all appearing at the same moment. This feature not only made the story all the more interesting but also stimulated my curiosity to read on. The most appealing talent of Tsukiyama was her building of the main characters. Her way of writing does not reveal the personalities of these characters all at once
