Are today's athletes overpaid? The knee-jerk response is often, "Of course they are! Why can't we pay (teachers, firemen, etc.) the same kind of money we pay professional athletes?" Under closer examination, that answer doesn't hold water.
Perhaps the most appropriate answer to the question of whether athletes are overpaid is another question: Whose business is it? (Aside from Uncle Sam's?) Though I'm not interested in whether Player X makes $3 million a year, many sports fans can recit
