INTRODUCTION
History
In 1933, Vernon Rudolph bought a doughnut shop in Pacudah, Kentucky from Joe Le Beau. His purchase included the company’s assets, goodwill, the Krispy Kreme name and the rights to a secret yeast raised doughnut recipe. In 1936 the first Krispy Kreme Doughnuts shop opened in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. In 2003 there were 319 Krispy Kreme stores operating in 41 states.
