“First they killed my Father” by Loung Ung is an autobiographical insight from the eyes of a 5 year old girl, Loung Ung about the Cambodian People’s sufferings during the Khmer Rouge between 1975 and 1979. The Khmer Rouge took over the ruling of Cambodia on April 17, 1975 and began to start a communist regime on its own people by torture. They drove the people back to the land, the vision being agricultural success and building socialism in the fields.
